Smooth brome is the most used tame grass for hay and the most common grass growing along roadsides and in waste areas in central and northern Alberta. It is very palatable to livestock when used for pasture, but it regrows slowly. Smooth bromegrass is long lived with aggressive traits and has excellent cold tolerance.
